Uni-Core™ (HUC) Microscopy Applications

The Harris Uni-Core™ is an ideal accessory for microscopic applications due to its unique ability to collect, transfer and position small samples on glass slides or microscope stages. The range of diameters available with the Harris Uni-Core™ allows the user to match sample diameters with well diameter developed for the Erie Cel-Line printed microscope slides.

Sample substrates are placed on the Harris Cutting Mat™ and held in intimate contact on the mat using a tweezer or other suitable tool. Grip the barrel of the Harris Uni-Core ™ as shown above (or in another manner) and position the cutting edge on the area of interest holding the barrel perpendicular. Apply gentle downward pressure while rotating the barrel of the Harris Uni-Core ™ until you feel contact with the underlying support. Lift the Harris Uni-Core ™ away from the substrate The sample is now safely stored in the Harris Uni-Core ™ lumen. The sample may remain in temporary storage or it may be preferentially positioned in a Cel-Line slide well of similar diameter.
