The 1.20 mm and 2.00 mm i.d. Harris Micro-Punch® established the industry standard sampling sizes for FTA® collection cards. The Harris Micro-Punch® (HMP) is designed to simultaneous cut, retrieve and store cored samples in one operation from source materials such as paper, gels, cloth, leaves, paint chips, films, tissue or other thin substrates. Unlike the Harris Uni-Core™, the Harris Micro-Punch® is more robust, enabling the HMP to be used on substrates of increasingly denser compositions. The razor sharp cutting tip is made from SS 440c rod.  The plastic HMP barrel and knob-screw assembly are constructed from injection moulded, high tech, lubricated plastic to eliminate sticking. 

The deluxe HMP is made from high grade aluminium.  The plunger system for each unit consists of a hybrid stainless steel ejection rod in a moulded housing.  Each Harris Micro-Punch® is sold with a protective plastic cover cap and a 6.0 x 8.0 x 0.70 inch, inert, self-healing Harris Cutting Mat™ with dual cutting surfaces.
